Rae Eder - Artist
Rae lives on the West Coast of the South Island of New Zealand with her husband Gary. They enjoy travelling and continually find on their travels within New Zealand sources of inspiration in the forms, sensations and colours of nature. Rae is also influenced by the interpretations of the world of the impressionists and our own Kiwi artists. 'There is a mass of talent right here under our noses'.

The first artistic success that Rae can remember was in Year 3 at central New Brighton School in Christchurch when her piece of work which was chosen to be displayed on the wall. Then in year 6 she has vivid memories of her teacher's very positive response to her artistic interpretation of Queen's visit to Christchurch. Art was then a must do at Secondary School.
It was while she was undergoing teacher training in the 1970's that she was introduced to acrylic painting and still paints predominately in acrylics today. Her layers of colour add depth whilst retaining clarity as reflected in the New Zealand landscape.
The West Coast community is particularly supportive of their artists and she finds it a wonderfully creative environment to live and work in.
